Itinerary:

TUESDAY 09 FEBRUARY
This morning you will be picked up from your homes for our Coromandel tour. Leaving Tauranga we travel through Waihi to Whangamata for a morning tea/brunch break (or you may wish to take your own) then a tour of Whangamata, and on to
Onemana. From here we travel to Pauanui for a tour of this seaside resort including some of the new canal developments. From Pauanui we travel to Tairua for a tea break and then on to Whitianga via Hahei, Hot Water Beach and the Cathedral Cove
Lookout. Our accommodation for the next three nights is Mana-A-Nui Motel. The motel will provide continental breakfasts each morning and dinner will be at the Mercury Bay Club or a local restaurant.
WEDNESDAY 10 FEBRUARY
Following a leisurely breakfast we set out for the township of Coromandel via the 309 Road. This is a winding metal road and very scenic. Our first stop is at the Kauri Gorge, a stand of magnificent Kauri, which have been protected for the last 100 years. It is an easy ten minute walk along a well maintained track. A further 0.6km along the road are the Waiau Falls, which are worthy of a stop. Our third stop on the road is the Waiau Waterworks - a whimsical display of sculptures, machines and playthings, all worked by water, all in a two acre park with trees and gardens, lawns and ponds. Also a playground for adults!! A really interesting and fun place to visit. From here we travel into Coromandel to visit Waitati Gardens, followed by a lunch break in town. Early afternoon we visit the Driving Creek Railway to take a one hour trip on New Zealand’s only narrow gauge mountain railway. The railway has taken 26 years to construct and the rails reached the final terminus in July 2001. We travel to Whitianga via Kuaotunu.
THURSDAY 11 FEBRUARY
We retrace our journey to Coromandel this morning and then head north to Colville where a visit to the country store is a must – I believe, if you want it they have it. From here we travel to the top of the peninsula to have our lunch at Port Jackson.
Following time at Port Jackson we return to Coromandel. On our way back to Whitianga we will visit Matarangi and other points of interest.
FRIDAY 12 FEBRUARY
We depart Whitianga after breakfast and travel to Coroglen and then over the Tapu Hill to visit the Rapaura Water Gardens and Craft Shop. On arrival you will be served morning tea and will then have time to view the gardens and shop. Next we travel down the coast to Thames, where we will spend time in the town for lunch and shopping if you wish, before returning you to your homes in the Bay of Plenty.
I do hope you can join me.
